linear regulator
linear regulator
the series regulator is an example of a linear regulator. The thing that makes a linear regulator is the fact that the pass transistor operates in the active or linear region. Another example of a linear regulator is the shunt regulator. In this type of regulator, a transistor is shunted across the load. Again, the transistor operates in the active region, so the regulator is classified as a linear regulator.
