>CRAFT TITLE: Halloween Goody Bag/Halloween Decoration
>AGE LEVEL:Daisy,Brownie & Junior(we made them at all 3 levels)
>
>CONTRIBUTOR:Judi Augustine
>COUNCIL:Delaware-Raritan GS Council,New Jersey
>
>MATERIALS:Brown grocery bag(1 for each girl),felt pumpkin cutouts(or orange
>felt),black cat cutouts(or black felt)felt ghost cutout(or white
>felt),wiggly eyes(if you use felt),craft sticks,dark blue construction
>paper,brown construction paper,yellow felt,halloween
>ribbon(1"wide),glue(Tacky works just fine).
>
>PROCEDURE:
>Cut off top part of bag(you just want it tall enough to fit the blue
>construction at the top & the craft sticks on the bottom). Glue blue con.
>paper to bag. You now have a *scene*------a night sky & picket fence.
>>From the brown construction paper-----cut a tree with all *scraggly* bare
>branches on it. Glue to left side of scene, make sure part of the trunk is
>under the fence. Now glue your fence to the bag(if I remember right,it takes
>about 20 craft sticks to go across the bag). Cut a moon from the yellow felt
>& glue high in the sky. Glue black cat on top of fence. Glue 2-3 pumpkins
>right at the bottom of the fence. Glue the ghost *floating* in the tree.
>Cut 2 pieces of ribbon 12" long & glue(or staple)on for handles. You now
>have a trick or treat bag. Or a real cute decoration
>
>!!! The girls loved making them & the moms thought they were great.
> No one used it to trick or treat with----they were afraid it would
>get ruined.
>
>CAUTIONS/SPECIAL NOTES: We cut the bags ahead of time-----that way all were
>the right height to work on. The Daisies needed a little help cutting out
>the trees,on the Brownies---we traced the trees & let the girls cut them
>out. The Juniors did their trees *free hand*. But all loved doing them.
>And each one is different, cause each girl put her pieces where she wanted
them.

>*****CRAFT TITLE: A Basket of Hugs and Kisses or Party Favor Basket
>AGE LEVEL: Older Juniors, Cadettes, Senior and Adults
>
>CONTRIBUTOR: Gwen M. Corey
>COUNCIL: Carolina Low Country Girl Scout Council
>
>MATERIALS: Need per basket:
>1 - 1 1/4" X 2" Natural Chipwood Basket
>8 inches of trim lace (eyelet works, also)
>12 inches of 1/4" ribbon (color of your choice)
>1 Low Temp or Hot Glue gun
>
>Optional:
>one silk flower cut where flower meets stem (again your choice)
>one 1" sticker
>
>PROCEDURE:
>Cut enough of the ribbon to go over the handle of the basket. It should
>only go down the side no more than a 1/4". Glue this in the middle of the
>handle. (Most handles are a bit wider than the ribbon.)
>
>Beginning on one side under handle, glue trim lace around entire basket. You
>should have a bit extra to go over the beginning and fold under before
>gluing to make the finished product nice.
>
>With remaining ribbon, cover the top of the lace completely around the
basket.
>
>Using a silk flower, glue it on the side above where the lace meets at the
>top of the basket. The flower should seem as if it is coming out from
>behind the handle, where the handle meets the basket.
>
>If you have a small gold Girl Scout or Girl Guide emblem, I suggest gluing
>it on the other side of the basket at the same location as the flower.
>
>Fill with Hershey's Hugs and Kisses or other item you wish to give the
>receipient.
>
>CAUTIONS/SPECIAL NOTES:
>Make sure that you only cut one length of the ribbon and lace before cutting
>the rest, if making muliple
>baskets. Without gluing, make certain the ribbon and lace do fit around the
>basket. You can always trim
>excess and do not want to be short.
>
>I use green ribbon for Juniors and Leaders; blue ribbon for Cadettes and
>Seniors. I have given these as Volunteer thank yous and used them to hold
>lose badges awarded to the girls.
>
>For a flower, I use a Daisy to honor Juliette Low.
