> Floss-Desired Color for Hair for Angel Doll
> 16mm Painted Wooden Doll Head or 16mm Wooden Bead
> Fine Line Markers/Paints
> 3" Piece of Lace/Small Doily & Matching Thread
> Glittery Chenille Stem
>
> 1.With the loops of the skein at the outside, cut the skein of
>floss
> in half. Unfold each cut half of the skein and place them on a
> flat surface. Remove three pieces of floss from one half of
>the
> cut skein and set them aside for later use.
> 2.Place one half of the skein on a piece of wax paper and fold
>the
> ends toward the middle and glue in place. Be sure the loops at
> the ends face the same way and that all the loose threads are
> glued. A wet paper towel is helpful with this part, to use to
> wipe off your fingers while you are adjusting the loops. Set
>the
> glued half of the skein aside to dry. Cut a 12" piece of the
>gold
> floss/thread. Double knot the piece of the gold floss/thread
>in
> the center of the other half of the cut skein. This piece of
>gold
> floss/thread will form the hanger for the angel doll, the
>length
> may be adjusted after the angel doll is completed, as desired.
> 3.Wrap the desired color of floss for the angel's hair around a
> craft pick and wet it thoroughly with water and set it aside
>to
> dry. If necessary, paint a face on the plain wooden bead and
>set
> it aside to dry. A light coat of varnish is recommended to
> protect the face of the angel.
> 4.Place the glued half of the skein in the center of the tied
>half of
> the skein and fold the unglued half over the glued half. This
>will
> enclose the glued half and form the arms of the angel. Tie one
> of the three pieces of cut floss in a double knot below the
>arms
> in the back of the angel to hold the arms in place. Wet the
>loose
> ends of floss with water or a wet paper towel and then tie
>them
> in a bow. Place a small amount of glue on the end of a craft
> pick and dot the bow with glue to hold it in place
>permanently.
> Tie the other two pieces of floss to the front of the angel
>about
> a fourth of an inch from the outside of the loops of the arms
>to
> form the hands of the angel. Double knot, wet the threads and
> tie them in bows as before. Dot the bows with glue to hold
> them in place. Some trimming of the loose ends of the bows
> may be necessary to make them even.
> 5.Use the scissors to even up the ends of the skirt of the angel
> and use a craft pick if necessary, to fluff out the skirt.
> 6.Wet the loose ends of the gold floss/thread and then thread
> them through the center of the wooden bead head of the angel,
> using a clean craft pick if necessary. Be sure the bead is
>right
> side up before placing it on the doll. Use a small amount of
> glue on the end of a craft pick on the bottom of the bead to
> help hold it in place. Tie several knots in the gold
>floss/thread
> on top of the head and dot the knots with glue as well. Tie
>the
> loose ends of the gold floss/thread together to form a hanger
> for the angel if desired. Set the angel aside to dry.
> 7.Using the matching thread, tie a double knot in the center of
>the
> piece of lace to form the wings for the angel. A small doily
> folded in half may be used for the wings, as well. Cut a three
> inch piece of the chenille stem and make a small circle at one
> end. Fold the end of the circle around the stem to make a halo
> for the angel. Unwind the dried floss from around the craft
>pick
> and fluff up the curls and glue them to the head of the angel.
>A
> wet paper towel and a craft pick will help with this part as
>well.
> Allow the hair to dry, and then glue the lace or doily wings
>on
> the back of the angel and glue on the halo and you are done.
> Note: A plain embroidery floss doll can be made by omitting
> the wings and halo.
