Crochet Angel
Project Description:
A thread Crochet Angel, decorated with a golden halo and a ribbon rose.
Level Of Experience: Intermediate
Finished Measurements: Approx. 5 1/2 in. tall
Materials:
DMC, Cébélia, 100% Mercerized crochet cotton, size 10, 260 m per skein, white
Steel crochet hook size 8 (American)
DMC, Gold metallic floss, approx. 10 yd
1 small ribbon rose in desired color
Fabric stiffener
2 cotton balls for head
Aleene's designer tacky glue
Stitch Gauge: 9dc = 1 in.
Note:
American terminology is used
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
ch: chain
ch-sp: chain space
tr: treble crochet
yoh: yarn (thread) over hook
sl st: slip stitch
Instructions:
Head:
Ch 5. Make a ring with a sl st into the first ch.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 9 sc in ring. End with sl st into first ch.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same ch, *sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around. (15 sc)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same ch, * sc in next sc twice, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around.
End with sl st into first ch. (21 sc)
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in each of all next sc around.
Rnd 5: Repeat rnd 3. (28 sc)
Rnd 6-10: Ch 1, sc in each of all next sc around.
Rnd 11: Ch 1, * skip next sc, sc in next sc twice, rep from * around. End with sl st into
first ch. (21 sc)
Rnd 12: Repeat rnd 11 (15 sc)
Stuff head with cotton balls.
Neck:
Rnd 13: Ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, 2 dc in every sc up to last sc, end with 3 dc in last sc, sl
st into 3rd ch. (32 dc)
Rnd 14: Ch 4 (count as dc, ch1) dc in same sp, * skip next dc, (dc, ch 1, dc)(shell) in
next dc, rep from * around. End with sl st into 3rd ch. (16 shells)
Wings:
Rnd 15: Sl st into next ch-sp, ch 3, dc in same ch-sp, ch 1, 2 dc in same ch-sp, * (2 dc,
ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch-sp, rep from * around. End with sl st into 3rd ch.
Rnd 16: Sl st in next 2 sts, ch 3 (count as dc), 2 dc in same ch-sp, ch 1, 3 dc in same
ch- sp, * (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-sp, rep from * around. End with sl st into 3rd ch.
Rnd 17: Sl st into next 3 sts, * ch 7, sc into next ch-sp, rep from * around. End with sl
st into first ch. (16 ch-sp)
Rnd 18: Ch 4, dc in next ch-sp, (ch 1, dc in same ch-sp) 3 times, * ch 1, (dc in next ch-
sp), (ch 1, dc in same ch-sp) 4 times, rep from * around.
Rnd 19: * Ch 5, sc into next ch-sp, rep from * around.
Rnd 20: Sl st into next ch-sp, * ch 1, ch-3-picot, ch 1, sc into next ch-sp, rep from *
around. Fasten off.
Body:
Rnd 21: Attach thread to one of the ch-3-sp on rnd 16:, (ch 7, sc in next ch-sp) 4
times, skip next 3 ch spaces, sc into next ch-sp, (ch 7, sc in next ch-sp) 4 times, skip
next 3 ch spaces, sc into first ch-sp.( 8 ch-sp)
Rnd 22: *Ch 7, sc into next ch-sp, ch 7, sc into next sc, rep from * around. (16 ch-sp)
Rnd 23: Sl st into next 3 sts, ch 7 (count as tr, ch 3), tr in same sp, * ch 1, (tr, ch 3, tr)
in next ch-sp, rep from *, end with ch 1, sl st into 4th ch.
Rnd 24: Sl st into next ch-sp, ch 4, tr in same ch-sp, ch 3, 2 tr in same sp, * ch 2, (2 tr,
ch 3, 2 tr) in next ch-3-sp, rep from * end with ch 2, sl st into 4th ch.
Rnd 25: Sl st into next 2 sts, ch 4, 2 tr in same ch-sp, ch 3, 3 tr in same sp, * ch 2, (3 tr,
ch 3, 3 tr) in next ch-3-sp, rep from * around. End with ch 2, sl st into 4th ch.
Rnd 26: Sl st into next 2 sts, ch 4, 2 tr in same ch-sp, ch 3, 3 tr in same sp, * ch 3, (3 tr,
ch 3, 3 tr) in next ch-3-sp, rep from * around. End with ch 3, sl st into 4th ch.
Rnd 27: Sl st into next 2 sts, * ch 7, sc into next ch-sp, rep from * around.
Rnd 28: Sl st into next 3 sts, * ch 7, sc in next ch-sp, rep from * around.
Rnd 29: Sl st into next st, ch 4, (dc, ch 1) in same ch-sp 4 times, *(dc, ch 1) in next
ch-sp 5 times, rep from * around. Sl st into first ch-sp.
Rnd 30: Ch 4, * dc in next dc, ch 1, ( dc, ch 3 picot, dc, ch 5 picot, dc, ch 3 picot) in
next dc, ch 1, yoh, insert hook into next dc, pull thread through 2 loops on hook, yoh,
insert hook into next dc, pull thread through 2 loops on hook, yoh, pull thread through
all threads on hook , ch 1, rep from * around. \
End with sl st into first ch-sp. Fasten off.
Halo:
Holding all strands of metallic floss together, ch 25. Make a ring with a sl st into the
first ch.
Rnd 1: Ch 3(count as dc) , 35 dc in ring. Rnd 2: * ch 5, skip in next dc, sc in next dc,
rep from * around. Fasten off.
Finishing:
Stiffen the angel according to the instructions of the stiffener. Glue on the halo to the
back of the head and the rose to the front of neck.

I was born in 1956 in Iran. In 1980, I received BS degree in Computer Science, and
worked as a computer programmer until 1988, when I moved to United States.
After my first son was born, I decided to stay home to raise him. Since I had too much
time on my hands, I started designing knit and crochet garments. Crafting had been
my passion since age 5 when my mother taught me to knit. Later I learned crocheting
from a craft teacher in high school.
My first design was published in knitting World magazine in 1992. Ever since, my
designs have appeared in such magazines as Knitting Digest, Crochet Digest, Crafts
'n Things, Pack-O-Fun, Crochet World, Annie's crochet newsletter, Hooked on
Crochet, Crafts, Quick & Easy Crochet, Crochet Fantasy and Inspirational Crafts.
Some of my designs have also been published in pattern books such as Irresistible
Vests, Inspirational Crochet, Vests made easy, Afghan Jamboree, Special stitches
Mile-A-minute afghans and Big Book of Slippers.
My designs can be found in the following hard cover books: Grandmother's Favorite
Crochet, Gifts from The Heart, Hooked on Afghans. In 1998, House of White Birches
featured seven of my rag rug patterns in Quick and easy Rag Rugs pattern book.
I joined the Marin Knitters' Guild in 1990 and joined the Marin Crochet guild in 1996
since it started. At present I am the president of Crochet guild.
Since 1996 I have been teaching crafts at the Novato Parks and recreation
department. I also am a Certified Knitting Instructor by CYCA (craft Yarn council of
America) since 1997.
In 1996 I started offering designs on the Internet at http://www.craftland.com and
added e-commerce enhanced Web site design and development to my list of activities.
I am happily married for sixteen years and have two boys ages ten and seven.
