Potpourri Pies
Potpourri Pies
From: "Alecia Devantier"
You will need:
1 terra cotta planter dish
salt dough
cinnamon sticks
1 cup potpourri
raffia
dried apples
To make the salt dough, combine 3 cups flour, 1 cup salt, and 1 cup
(more
or less) of water. Knead for 5-7 minutes. Let sit in a plastic bag for
30
minutes to even out the moisture. Makes 4 top pie crusts.
To the the top dough part of the pie, roll out the dough and cut 1"
larger
than the terra cotta dish. Place the dish upside-down on a cookie sheet.
Carefully place the dough over the upside-down pie dish. Cut designs in
the
dough with a knife, and ruffle the edge. Bake at 350 degrees for 30
minutes, basting with egg white every 10 minutes.
Assemble by placing the potpourri inside the terra cotta dish, placing
the
pie crust on top and tying it together with the raffia. Garnish with
cinnamon sticks and apples.
